Kenepuru Sound provided fantastic roads for touring with gently undulating hills, endless idyllic bays, Kanuka forest and the occasional friendly traffic.

Due to flooding and route closures we detoured down the Kawatiri/Buller and south past Punakaiki. Unfortunately this meant missing several highlights such as Maruia Saddle and the Big River route

Kahikatea
Boundary Creek, one of the best campsites on the whole trip. A year prior I had been camping here on a roadtrip through, I had met some cycle tourers here and ever since then had got the idea in my head to do the TA. Prior to that I had never given overnight cycling much thought, as it happened it isn't too different from the tramping we already did so less than a year later, here we were! Experiencing moving through the landscape in a completely different way.
